It took a wile but the final Chapter is redy now, thank you fore reading!
~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~ Maya glanced up from her reading at a knock on the door and a confused frown creased her brow. She wasn't expecting anyone, and the twins weren't going to be back until much later. They wouldn't have knocked anyways. Suddenly her stomach lurched at the thought of the twins. Something could have happened to them. That could be why there was someone at the door. She shakily got to her feet and answered the door, her terror intensifying as she saw who was there.
"Gero," she breathed in shock. "What do you want?"
"Not even a hello? Maya, darling, where's your manners. May I come in?"
She stepped aside, watching him nerviously and finally asked her
question again. "What do you want?"
"Do you know where our children are?" he asked in return, causing her to feel like she was going to vomit from pure terror for her son and daughter's safety.
"They... they're at a school dance."
"You think that, don't you?"
"Gero you animal! What have you done to them!?" Her eyes started overflowing with tears and he smiled sinisterly, wiping one of the tears away in an odd display of tenderness.
"Don't worry, they're safe. What kind of a beast would I be to harm my only son and daughter?"
"So why are you here? To gloat? They're too old for you to warp, I was able to keep them away from you long enough for that...."
"Au contrare my dear, they're the perfect age for my purposes." He smiled coldly again and she started to tremble. "But I need you to do something for me. And you will do it if you value your darlings lives...."
"Bastard. What do you want?"
"I want you to start packing. You and the twins are going to be
moving. You'll pack up a few personal effetcts then go tell the landlord that you'll be moving tonight. I'll give you a suitable piece of tripe to feed him. Well what are you doing just standing there!? Get moving! We hardly have all night and I'd hate for something to hapen to our lovely kids while you were playing around here...."

Maya plastered a bright smile on her face as the landlord, Mr. Larch, opened the door to his apartment. Trying valiantly to ignore Gero's cold presance right behind her and the even colder metal of a seringe pressed into her arm.
"Why Maya! What a surprise!"
"Hello Mr. Larch. I hate to disturb you at such a late hour but
something's happened."
"Not to the twins I hope!"
"Oh! Heavens no!" she gasped as the needle pressed into her skin even harder. "No, my husband here just came back from his research trip. I'm moving out. Tonight. I'm sorry about the short notice but it just came up so suddenly."
"Oh, that's quite all right. Will you be coming back for your things?"
"No. We've got everything we need. The rest of it can go with the apartment."
"Oh. Well... maybe I'll see you around some time then."
Maya swallowed hard, aware of nothing beyond the tight grip on her arms and the cold metal ready to spill its deadly mix into her veins. "I doubt it Mr. Larch. I seriously do. Good bye...."
"Good bye." He smiled and closed the door as the pair of them walked away and Maya started sobbing softly.
"There, there my dear," Gero murmered gently. "That was quite a
performance. You truely should have been an actress."
"Be quiet you son of a bitch!" she hissed as she let him help her into his car. "I helped you tie up all your little loose ends, now where are the twins."
"Safe," he replied simply. "It's unfortunate though that they'll never get to see their mother again. Then again, they won't remember their
mother so...." He let his voice trail off and swiftly pressed down on the plunger of the seringe, smiling slightly as her eyes widend in shock.
"You..." she breathed, struggling to keep her eyes open. "You... You...."
"Good night sweet Maya," he whispered, a smug smile on his face.
In a few short minutes he was stopped outside his house and set about destroying the last of the loose ends. All of the personal things from Maya's apartment into the incinerator. Maya's body too, although it pained him to do so. It would have been nice to keep her around, as a housekeepeer or a trifle of some sort. But she simply would have been a distraction. As he finished the last of his disposal he went back to his lab, where his two teenaged children slept in a dreamless sleep.
"Severin..." he said softly glancing in between the two of them.
"Ada.... She accused me of not caring, but I do. Why else would I do this
to you? I'm giving you a chance many would dream of. A chance for immortality. This is a gift straight from my heart and I hope you realize that...." He slowly walked back upstaris, still musing out loud.
"A gift straight from a father's love...."

As his eyes fluttered open he was slightly disorentated. Where was he? It was warm, he could tell that much. But other than the warmpth he really couldn't feel much of anything. He tried to focus his eyes. Everything was hazy, he couldn't really see much either. Nor could he move. He was just sort of hanging there in a safe, warm, relaxing place.
Suddenly the haze disapeared and he colapsed to the floor, shivering at the new sensation of cold air and completely unable to breathe. He gasped and choked until finally he vomited up a few lungfulls of the liquid he had been suspended in. Slowly he realized that he was being watched and he glanced up at the stern looking old man staring down at him, trying to force himself to speak. "W... who...?"
"I am Dr. Gero," the man replied curtly, in clipped tones. "I am your creator."
He regarded Gero blankly for a moment until he realized that he had no clue as to what was going on. "But..." he started again, trying to get a handle on speach. "Who... who am I?"
"You? You are Juunana-gou. Number Seventeen."
"Juunana-gou," he repeated hesitantly, glancing around at his surroundings. He was laying at the bottom of some sort of a glass tube in what was presumably a lab. There were bizzare sorts of machines all over the place, but what caught his attention was another tube, identacle to his, with a girl suspended in it. "Who's that?" he asked, pointing at the other tube.
"That is your twin, Juuhachi-gou. Number Eighteen."
"Juuhachi... my sister...." He pushed his hand through his hair as things slowly began to become clear to him. "Yes, my twin. But... what are we?"
"What are you!?" Gero smiled at the boy he had created sinisterly. "Why, you are Jinzoningen!"
"Jinzoningen..." he echoed with a slight nod. "I am Jinzoningen...."
And so the Android Saga Begins..... ___________________________________________________________________________
